More or Less

‘More or Less’ is a conceptual table that raises awareness of daily accumulation. It consists of three different materials; elastic fabric, leather and wood. Not only is the table a tool to organise but because of the similar material colour choices it is also visually organised.


The inspiration came both from the flood gates in Dals Långed and from a messy table top. The main concept is developed from two facts I discovered from examining the flood gates. One is the internal body of water in the lock chamber which creates patterns. The other contrasting effect is water as a natural soft material trapped by the man-made metal frame.

I have used elastic fabric and leather to illustrate accumulation because they are shaped by and highlight the objects they contain. The less it contains, the more organised you are. Plus, wooden structure.
